White family researcher Mike White found D. P. White’s Civil War records, which indicates he was already living in Texas in 1862. He is described on the roll of prisoners of war captured and paroled by the U.S. Forces at Yazoo City, Miss., May 21, 1863 -- he was a Sergeant in Company C Waul’s 2 Texas Infantry Battalion, had hazel eyes and brown hair, and was 5'8" tall.
