I am interested to see that you have a copy of this book; I am doing some research into Fanny Crosby’s hymn “Lead me to Jesus”, which was first published in Pure Gold, number 32. I have not been able to see inside the book, and wonder: (1) was the music composed by W.H. Doane? (2) Is there a refrain? and (3) what is the last line of the refrain? (it varies between different later hymn books). Or a page scan would answer all these questions at a glance, and more! Than you in anticipation!
I have checked the song on page 32, Lead Me to Jesus.
1. Yes, the music is composed by W. H. Doane. 4/4 time, key of F major.
2. Yes, there is a refrain (with 4 stanzas): Quickly haste, and come where happy children meet, Hither come and rest thy little weary feet; Turn from thy pleasures, turn from thy play, Come to our Sunday School away.
3. Come to our Sunday School away.
Other things on the page: "He went about seeking some to lead him." Acts 13:11 is under the title. "Entered according to Act of Congress A. D. 1870, by BIGLOW & MAIN...." is at the bottom.
Will try to get a scan tomorrow. Let me know how I can send it to you.
