First, we see that the publishing giant HarperCollins Publishes Maps In The Middle East That Omit Israel. Their reason for doing so is described thusly: "Collins Bartholomew, the subsidiary of HarperCollins that specialises in maps, said that including Israel would have been “unacceptable” to their customers in the Gulf and the amendment incorporated “local preferences”." So, local preferences trumps facts -- even very obvious ones.
But at least HarperCollins apologises for 'offensive' omission of Israel from atlas and promises to pulp all remaining copies. The "Publishing giant HarperCollins has apologised for omitting Israel from an atlas and has vowed to destroy any remaining copies." They "regret the omission" and have removed the atlas from sale. "All remaining stock will be pulped."
