Happy 300th Birthday

The city of Nacogdoches, Texas describes itself as "the oldest town in Texas." Its earliest known history is as a village of the Nacogdoche tribe of Caddo Indians. In 1716  the Mission Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe de los Nacogdoches was constructed and opened as a mission to the local Caddo Indians.  July 9, 1716 Father Antonio Margil de Jesus took charge of the new mission. Because of this, Nacogdoches is celebrating July 9, 20l6 as its Tricentennial.
