Did he say that?

A popular Charles Haddon Spurgeon quote found on the internet is: “I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.” It is a nice statement, but according to Spurgeon.org, Charles Spurgeon never said this. They say the closest quote is found in his 1874 sermon “Sin and Grace”:
“The wave of temptation may even wash you higher up upon the Rock of ages, so that you cling to it with a firmer grip than you have ever done before, and so again where sin abounds, grace will much more abound.”
Here are 6 Quotes Spurgeon Didn't Say -- “...you may be shocked to realize that Spurgeon didn't say these six quotes often attributed to him.”

Another interesting read at Spurgeon.org:
Spurgeon and the Hurricane of 1878 -- On Sunday, March 24, 1878, a hurricane struck London. At around 4:00 PM, Spurgeon was mediating on Scripture when the silence was broken “by the noise of doors and windows, and the terrible howling of the blast.”
