“Ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein.”
We would all do well to follow the example of the king and do what is pleasing to God, without fear of what man may think or do.I can think of no better example than that of politicians. So many will see which way that the wind may blow before they act or make a decision. They will not follow their hearts and minds. Must we make decisions based upon the standing of man? Will we do what we know needs to be done?
I probably should have given I little more context to this and my thought process caused by it. It the situation, newly crowned King Rehoboam would not listen to a petition from his people for tax/burden relief and even told them it was going to get worse. This became the means for the division of the kingdom of Israel that God had promised. So the king wasn't necessarily doing a godly thing, but a thing that was ordained of God to an end.Anyway, it made me think of how our leaders in Washington seem set on a determined course regardless of what the American people think. And made me wonder what is God's purpose in all this. Is He again dividing a kingdom? No prophet. Just wondering outloud.
