Plexiglas preaching 4

Lastly, from John MacArthur "...listing the negative effects of the superficial brand of preaching that is so rife in modern evangelicalism.

"It puts the responsibility on the preacher to change people with his cleverness. Preachers who pursue the modern approach to ministry must think they have the power to change people. That, too, is a frightening expression of pride. We preachers can’t save people, and we can’t sanctify them. We can’t change people with our insights, our cleverness, by entertaining them or by appealing to their human whims and wishes and ambitions. There’s only One who can change sinners. That’s God, and He does it by His Spirit through the Word."

Plexiglas Preaching, by John MacArthur

Amity, I agree. I'm not all that familiar with MacArthur, but seems he nailed it on this one.

Judson, I don't have much on Forman -- mostly just info on some of the churches he pastored based on association minutes. I remember reading on some internet site that he left Rusk County, moved to Van Zandt County and died there. I'll get what I have together and try to send it to you soon.

P.S. - y'all have set up a nice site for your camp.

Robert, The Jacobs collection at Sam Houston Regional Library, Liberty TX., contains 100's of copies of Primitive Baptist Associational Minutes from the mid 1850's to date. These cover primarily the territory of East Texas and Western Louisiana. They contain obituaries, and the name of every person who was present at that association in an official capacity has been cataloged.Achivist Robert Schaat and his crew are very cooperative in helping you to use and enjoy their documents. The Jacobs collection also is one of the largest genealogy sources for fanilies in East Texas and West Louisiana. CLJ
