Strong confidence

“The terrible projections about the dangers of COVID-19, not the virus itself, triggered the three severe problems that we now face. (1) Fear, (2) destruction of the economy, and (3) political abuse of power. These three problems cannot be easily resolved…Fear is a human emotion easily and instantly triggered by a dangerous situation, but also an emotion that is slow to abate…Fear provides us with the protective fight or flight reaction. When fear dominates it suppresses our conscious, logical thought processes and our critical thinking...Scared people don’t want to be scared. They search desperately for a savior. Power hungry politicians in elected offices are all too happy to be that savior. As long as those officials can convince voters to keep voting for them, they get to keep power. This was what Rahm Emanuel meant when he quipped, ‘Never let a crisis go to waste’...‘In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence.’ (Proverbs 14:26).”
