Four weeks missing

Today my mother-in-law, Shirley Hunt, has been missing for four weeks. We still don't have any "news" at this time. The family and law enforcement are busy following any leads that come up. Even rumors must be followed up -- anything that might help. Family members and friends spend time on the roads, driving and looking, and time is spent in posting pictures, sending letters and such like. Efforts to get her picture on national television have failed thus far, as far as I can tell. Evidently this isn't too "newsworthy" if there isn't a scandal involved. Last Friday, dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Tennessee Colony were brought back to do some searching in the Good Springs area again.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and for every kind deed, and especially to the Lord Who has led you to do these things. A picture of Shirley can be found
here.

We know personally the anguish of a family member disappearing without any news of their whereabouts or well being. Know that we are praying for her protection and God's direct intervention in her life today from all the way down here in Ecuador.

Guy, thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. I am saddened to hear that you have also personally experienced a family member disappearing. May the Lord bless you all.

What I failed to mention though is that we prayed for a month day and night. People gathered in our home daily to pray. We mobilized hundreds of prayer warriors from around the globe. We decided that if God hadn't answered after a month, we would accept His will. After a month of prayer we had a small "memorial service" and said good-bye to our loved one. We then tried to get on with life.

SIX weeks after the disappearance I was in our Teleamigo office and one of the elderly prayer warriors came out and asked if there was yet any word about our loved one. I patted her on the back and said, "no, but there is no need to pray anymore, we have accepted it as God's will..." This tiny, 80+ year old woman wagged a finger in this missionary's face and said, "NEVER, never give up praying until God answers!" I smiled and said, "go on and continue to pray." She said, "I have never stopped and will not until God answers..."

That very evening we received a call to come pick up our loved one: our daughter.

I am so sorry about your mother in law being missing. I was just reading about it, she disappeared on my 72nd birthday. It must be terrible for you and your family. I pray that she will be found soon and that she will be ok. Our God is faithful and prayers change things.
God bless you and your family during this time of stress and grief. I shall put her on the prayer line.
