“Internal evidence is a most important defense of 1 John 5:7. 1) Omission of 1 John 5:7 creates a grammatical solecism, not present if it is included; it cries out for its inclusion. 2) 1 John 5:9 contrasts the ‘witness of God’ with the ‘witness of men’. The antecedent for the ‘witness of men’ is 1 John 5:8; 1 John 5:7 is necessary as the antecedent for the ‘witness of God’.”
