2/3 Christian

The love of God wants what is good for us.
The wisdom of God knows what is good for us.
The power of God does what is good for us.

Meditating on the above, I began to wonder whether many of us are just "2/3 Christians". How many accept the first two as axioms, yet water down and explain away the third? Yet Paul writes, "we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

If we're 2/3 Christian, I wonder what the other 1/3 would be?

(You have a great post here!)

I believe so many will deny the power of God, sometimes albeit unintentionally.

On the other hand, the human side will get in the way and wants to take credit for things that God is the author of.

If only 2/3 is Christian, the other 1/3 would possibly be pagan/heathen? Or maybe agnostic?

Hmmm...The little theology that I understand would say if you are a child of God [elect of God] you would be 3/3 elect. God works in absolutes. Can you be a Christian and not an elect child of God ?? That is a question to ponder because it seems to go to practice in time.

Pete, for my part this is intended as a figure to make us think. If one is a child of God, he is a child of God all the way and not just part. But as Christians we often have beliefs that are not Christian, or Bible-based. In this example, it seems strange to me to accept that God knows and wants what is good for us and yet is unable to carry it out.
