In my spirit, I believe God would like us to devote ourselves to Him enough to give Him that one day a week in corporate worship. But if you have to be bound by the traditions that have overtaken the church today, then that's not worship. "Not by might, but by My Spirit." and "God is a Spirit and He must be worshiped in Spirit." Where my butt is on a Sunday has nothing to do with worshiping my God. Does it help to be plugged into the body? ABSOLUTELY. But even the children of Israel only went to church "seeking God." Jesus' every word after healing was, "Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole." Not one time did He say, "Get into a good Bible-teaching church." King Solomon's proverbs never mention church meetings once. King David's Psalms sing praises to God for the life that God blesses. Not once does David mention the joy of his church meetings. The truth has been lost.

I appreciate your thoughts, which I believe are related to Michael Horton's Are We Required to Attend Church on Sunday?. I don't agree with everything he said, but I was hoping his thoughts would provoke thought and conversation. Some people approach church attendance in a very legalistic way, while at the other end of the spectrum some approach it in a very nonchalant way. Despite all the woes of modern churches, getting together as God's people is a part of the one anothering patterned in the New Testament.
