Three tombstone inscriptions

Below are three tombstone inscriptions by which I was impressed.

“Beneath this stone two sisters sleep who’ve left us here a while to weep; in bloom of youth were call’d away, transient as theirs may be our stay.”

“Death is the close of life’s alarms, the watch-light on it’s shores, the clasping in immortal arms of loved one’s gone before.”

“Beneath this dolesome veil she rests, her weary head serene, from busy life, she’s peaceful laid, no sorrows intervene.”

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

The quote “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” comes from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. In the film, when those looking for him find the Wizard, they hear a loud voice booming all around them. The voice tells them to come back another time. It is all mysterious and marvelous.

However, Toto, the main character’s little dog, discovers the “real” Wizard. He is just an average looking middle-aged man operating a bunch of controls behind a green curtain. When the Wizard of Oz realizes he has been discovered, he shouts over his loudspeaker, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”

Like feet

• Excuses are like feet, everyone has them and they all stink. 
• Opinions are like feet, they all stink unless they’re yours. 
• Brothers and sisters are like feet; they hurt you, but at the end of the day you’re grateful to have them.
• Church sign: Give Satan a foot and he will become a ruler.

Religion without Jesus is like a manure pile; it stinks highly until it finally dries up!

There, but for the grace of God, go I

Have you ever heard or used the saying, "There, but for the grace of God, go I"? It's fairly common to hear someone, when seeing a person in worse condition than himself, make the statement.
