Though John Newton is not as fluid and poetic as Watts, Wesley and Cowper, he has a lot of good hymns based on passages of Scriptures.R. L. This is the original hymnal that he and William Cooper put together and where all subsequent hymnals got, "Amazing Grace", "God Moves In A Mysterious Way", "How Tedious and Tasteless The Hours", "There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood" and many others still being sung today!J.
