What a rewarding and educational trip. I could not help but think back to things that are still vivid, when the recent tragedy occured. For all of their detractors, the Amish have many ways that everyone could do well to emulate. Their background and customs were so strong as to influence the Supreme Court in 1972, allowing Amish children to attend school only through the 8th grade. Surely they must have found the Y2K scare quite humorous, if they were even aware of it. They have a saying of sorts that says, "You can have a little bit of heaven on earth".
