Time how swift

While with ceaseless course the sun
Hasted through the former year,
Many souls their race have run,
Never more to meet us here
Fixed in an eternal fate,
They have done with all below;
We a little longer wait,
But how little--none can know.

John Newton (1725-1807)
Olney Hymns, 1779

As one accumulates age, the years do indeed roll by faster than they once did. We should all strive in our lives to be ever more pleasing to God, with the emphasis on Him and not ourselves.

With the arrival of a new year, I believe it would be appropriate to honor and recognize those in America and around the world who are still with us that were born in the 19th Century. I know it's hard to realize, but there are a handful left. To be able to visit with one would be an honor in itself.

That would be quite an honor. Even those born early in the 20th century are becoming rare.
